Clamping vs. Clipping

FYI, clamping is used on Levels, and throughout the site, where clipping is the more correct term.

  • In electronics, a Clamper circuit sets a certain DC level.

  • A Clipper restricts amplitude to a certain range.

...maybe clamping is used here because it sounds less destructive than clipping.
The intended meaning is clear enough; there's no need to change it, I think.
I'm curious if this usage of clamping is seen elsewhere. --Raffriff42 13:16, 19 January 2016 (CET)
